I was invited to UM for a Law Convention by these people, KPUM whereby this convention is all about big law firms in Malaysia helping law students to have a better understanding of the proffesion...
So there I was with my new found friend, Aravind... Strolling along the very beautiful UM, admiring the well equiped facilities, envying all those who entered this uni...
We enetered the law faculty and my oh my, about 20 firms were there trying their best to pull you into their booth and make you register with the firms while waiting for us to inquire about their firms...
One couldn't help but wonder what on earth is happening...Why are multi million firms making employment of law students so easy?Only then did I realise it was a field of vultures preying on us naive law students to go into their firm to become cheap labour enslaved for a month or two to slog through the harsh realities of the legal profession...
Such a scam is masked behind the name, attachment where they lure you with their very inattractive pay of 1/2 a thousand like I did in my six months job experience...
But I have to admit, this is a simbiotic situation where we as law students get to have hands on experience and it is the ONLY way to learn the facts of life in the law business...
One firm did catch my eye, Shern DeLamore, one of the biggest firm in Malaysia...It has 100 lawyers, a systematic follow up programme for the attachement students, rooms for lawyers (not cubicals like other firms) and a private bar with a pro bar tender...I am surely attaching with this firm for the booze...
Then there is Lee Hishamuddin Allen & Gladhill, a firm with 40 over lawyers, posh settings and guess what, Elaine Dally is the current chambering students and I met her today... Chat for a while, she is nice, had her CLP 5 years ago, want to stop modeling and put her pageant days behind and move on with life... And she is so tall...
So thats about it, it has been fun getting goodie bags and all...I have some serious thinking to do so will update you on my humble journey in attaining the illusive yet merely possible law degree program...
